Key Benefits
When it comes to the complex task of managing and scheduling healthcare
providers, no other software solution works better than Tangier Emergency
Physician Scheduling. Tangier transforms difficult scheduling scenarios
into a streamlined process, benefiting providers and administrators.
• Time Savings
• Physician Satisfaction
• Guaranteed Accuracy
• Management and Cost Controls
• Enhanced Communications
• Optimized Staffing
TIME SAVINGS
Automated schedule creation eliminates the impossible task of manually
producing complex schedules by relying on paper notes, old spreadsheets and
sheer memory. Using Tangier Web, physicians directly enter their own
schedule requests into the scheduling system, replacing the multiple
emails, faxes and telephone calls previously used to collect this
information. Because physicians can sign in and out of shifts with Tangier
Web, payroll personnel no longer need to enter actual hours and match them
to variable pay rates. It is done automatically. Calculation of Gross Pay,
based on up-to-the-last minute data capture is as easy as the click of a
button.

PHYSICIAN SATISFACTION
Tangier Web enables physicians to view and manage their individual work
schedules at anytime and anywhere via the Internet. The Personal Calendar
feature of Tangier Web integrates work and lifestyle commitments, enabling
physicians to organize their lives in one place. Physicians can download
Personal Calendars to PDA's so they have the latest information wherever
they go. Because physicians can view the current work schedules of
coworkers, they can quickly identify potential shift "swap"
candidates. Once agreed to by all parties, the swap is executed in real
time, updating Master and Personal Calendars.

GUARANTEED ACCURACY
Tangier's sophisticated scheduling algorithm produces a complex schedule
based on individual physician preferences in the context of proper
coverage. The result is a 100% complete schedule designed to be accepted by
all physicians as fair. The physician preferences, the coverage
requirements and the fairness criteria used to create the schedule are
clearly documented to avoid misunderstandings. A database shared by
multiple facilities allows decentralized access while ensuring consistent
information. Tangier facilitates the simultaneous scheduling of multiple
physicians across multiple facilities, avoiding conflicting assignments and
ensuring requisite credentialing. Automated gross payroll calculation
ensures every physician's pay reflects hours worked.

MANAGEMENT AND COST CONTROLS
With Tangier, management can view specific shifts where physicians are
working longer hours than planned and redefine coverage, reducing payroll
expense. Actual hours worked are captured with web-enabled sign in/sign out
capability and matched to planned hours and variable pay rates. Exceptions
to plan are easily viewed. Time accounting information captured in a single
database provides a seamless interface to payroll systems. Historical
records of detailed staffing information are maintained for compliance
reporting.

ENHANCED COMMUNICATIONS
Each time a shift change is made, both the Master Calendar and
individual Personal Calendars are automatically updated. Notification of
revised schedules is immediately communicated through integrated email.
From any browser, at anytime physicians can access their Personal Calendars
and the current work schedules of co-workers. Administrators can view
on-demand staff details such as off-time requests, swap requests and
confirmations from anywhere and at anytime.

OPTIMIZED STAFFING
The Tangier scheduling algorithm uses an optimization model that
produces hundreds of schedules (invisible to the user and at computer
speed) until a "Best Fit" is produced. "Worst case"
assignments for individuals are negated. The result of Tangier's logic is a
schedule with a high fill rate, few "holes". The final Tangier
schedule seldom gives physicians everything they request, but it avoids
specifically problematic assignments and becomes, therefore, acceptable.
Complete and updated staffing information facilitates sophisticated reporting
on virtually any groupings or blended groupings of facilities, assignments
and physicians. At an enterprise level, administrators can make strategic
decisions regarding staffing levels, the mix of staff and types of shifts
to better accommodate necessary coverage. At an operational level,
administrators are quickly alerted to last minute, unplanned open shifts.
These openings can be broadcasted immediately to physicians who in turn can
request to work them in real time.
