AUTOMATED SCHEDULE CREATION
If creating emergency department work schedules reflecting each
physician's personal preferences and requests while ensuring proper
coverage is daunting, Tangier is the right choice. Tangier enables the
automatic generation of physician "preference-based" schedules
that are 100 % complete. Some of the individualized preferences you may use
include the number of shifts per schedule period, maximum number of shifts
in a row, hours between shifts, maximum nights in a row, preferred
assignment types and alternating weekends. Tangier's scheduling algorithm
is based on the premise of fairness. Your group defines what constitutes
fairness. For example, if fairness in your group refers to each physician
working an equal share of nights, weekends and day shifts/ assignments,
Tangier will schedule accordingly. If the concept of fairness pertains to certain
members of the group (e.g., partners), Tangier will oblige. The scheduling
algorithm uses "Intelligent Permutations" to balance the
competing demands of individual physician preferences, user-defined
fairness and proper coverage of your facilities' shifts. Tangier's
scheduling algorithm combines the advantages of a handcrafted schedule with
the timesaving of an automated system.

CENTRAL PHYSICIAN DATABASE
If your group needs accurate and readily available scheduling data
regarding facilities (shifts, eligibility rules) and physicians (work
history, contact information, personal preferences, IDs etc.) then
Tangier's central database is the answer. Storing all of your scheduling
and deployment information in one place facilitates improved information
sharing, operational efficiency and scheduling accuracy.

MULTIPLE FACILITY SUPPORT
Tangier is capable of tracking an unlimited number of facilities and
physicians. The Multiple Facility Support feature allows more than one
facility to be scheduled and the creation of user-defined facility
groupings, known as "Schedule Groups" in Tangier. Schedule Groups
enable multiple facilities to be scheduled simultaneously and are typically
used when you have a common pool of physicians working across more than one
site. Schedule Groups can also be used to provide information on any number
of facilities in a single report. This feature also enables you to define
global physician preferences that apply to all facilities where the
physician is eligible to work. For example, if a physician is eligible to
work at three facilities, global preferences will allow you to control the
proportion of shifts he/she works at each site ensuring that the physician's
preferences (for example, maximum nights in a row) are honored regardless
of where the assignment is worked.

TIME AND COST ACCOUNTING
If tracking the actual hours worked by a physician and the calculation
of gross payroll is a headache, Tangier is a solution. Tangier's Financial
and Time Accounting feature enables the tracking of both planned and actual
hours worked. Actual hours may be entered into Tangier manually, but use of
Tangier's Sign In/Sign Out feature allows actual hours to be captured at
the time shift assignments are worked by enabling physicians to enter
stop/start times via the Internet. User-defined compensation parameters are
flexible and include variable types (e.g., hourly rate, incentive-based
pay, etc.) specified at a facility and/or physician level and
bonuses/adjustments that can be ad-hoc or reoccurring (by
shift/assignment). Capturing both planned and actual hours for each
physician and shift into a central database facilitates the automation of
interfaces to internal payroll systems and the management reporting of
crucial compensation information.

ELIBIGILITY TRACKING/ENFORCEMENT
If getting the right person to the right place at the right time is a
challenge, then Tangier's built-in shift, user-defined eligibility rules
and real-time physician qualification checking can help. Tangier allows
eligibility rules to be specified for each shift. These rules are
automatically enforced each time a physician assignment is made. If the
assigned physician's qualifications are not a match for the shift, a
real-time notification is generated to prevent the error. The same is true
for double scheduling. Tangier knows all physician assignments, regardless
of facility, and will not allow a physician to be scheduled in more than
one place at the same time.

PHYSICIAN PREFERENCE TRACKING/ENFORCEMENT
If keeping track of the personal scheduling preferences of each physician
in your group is almost impossible, Tangier's Physician Preference
Tracking/Enforcement feature can help. Tangier allows the individual
scheduling preferences (for example, Shifts per period, Hours between
shifts, Min/Max consecutive shifts in a row, etc.) of each physician in
your group to be stored in Tangier's central database. Preferences can be
specified at a facility level and/or at a physician level. Tangier will
automatically enforce these preferences when assignments are made and increase
the satisfaction level of your group's physicians. If Tangier's Rule
Breaking feature is used, additional information for each preference
indicates that the rule may be automatically broken within certain limits,
if absolutely necessary to produce a complete schedule.

PHYSICIAN SCHEDULE REQUEST MANAGEMENT
If integrating physician requests (off-times, shift requests, etc.) into
the final schedule is onerous, Tangier Web's Physician Requests feature can
make this process more reliable and efficient. With TangierWeb, each
physician in your group can enter their own requests in a controlled manner
via the Internet. There is no chance of a request being lost. Each request
is saved in Tangier's central database with an audit trail tracking who
entered the request and when it was entered. TangierWeb provides your
group's administrators with a powerful Internet-based tool to review
physician requests in a quick and accurate manner with approval/denial
notification automatically sent back to the physician originating the
request.

SHIFT SWAPS
If improving the shift swap process is a goal for both physicians and
administrators alike in your group, Tangier Web's Shift Swapping feature
can address the needs of both. Physicians can use Tangier Web to find an
available "swap" candidate and execute the shift swap in a
controlled, automated manner with automatic notification sent to the
group's administrator(s). Tangier Web automatically updates the master
schedule once both parties confirm the swap. This information is instantly
available to all other members of your group.

COMMUNICATING SHIFT ASSIGNMENTS
If communicating shift assignments and schedule changes to all members
of your group is a challenge, then our optional Tangier Web technology is
the perfect solution. It seamlessly uses the Internet to provide controlled
and secured access to Tangier's central database, allowing everyone in your
group to see the latest shift assignments at all times. In addition,
Tangier Web includes a built-in email messaging capability that facilitates
communication among all members of your group.

CUSTOMIZED REPORTING
Tangier includes a wide-range of reports and also allows you to build
reports customized to the needs of your group. Tangier allows various
groupings of information such as types of facilities (e.g., Urgent Care,
OR, etc.) and shift/assignments (e.g., weekend shifts, 7a-3p) and the
designing of reports blending these groupings. For example, a potential
report might be the number of weekends worked by each physician at x number
of the total facilities your group covers. In fact, you can report on
virtually any grouping of shifts/assignments at any grouping of facilities.

MANAGE SCHEDULES VIA THE WEB
Tangier Web enables schedulers and administrators to perform most of
their scheduling tasks, such as physician assignments, finding an eligible
physician an assignment, or changing the start/end times of a specific
assignment, via the web. This feature is ideal for groups who want a
centralized scheduling database to be maintained or updated by a
decentralized group of administrators at each facility. This feature is
also a fit if you need access, and the ability to make changes to the
scheduling information while away from the office.

CONTACT MANAGEMENT AND E-MAIL MESSAGING
Tangier's central database stores the contact information (e.g., phone
numbers, e-mail addresses, etc.) for all physicians, schedulers and
administrators. This enables everyone in your group to quickly find the
contact information of co-workers and administrators and send email
messages from the program.
